Summer has arrived, so why not plan a Picnic Day with your family. One of the UK’s most popular summer activities, picnicking is a great way to spend time with family and friends outside in the sunshine. Whether at a park, an outdoor event or just in the backyard, a picnic can be a fun excursion for the whole family.

Of course, pretty much any spare time is a good time to indulge in a picnic. Getting out into the fresh air to enjoy a meal is always a recipe for fun. Combined with a countryside walk or ball games in the park, it’s also a great way to get a bit of family-friendly exercise, too.

It’s all weather-dependent, of course. Britain isn’t renowned for its reliably warm, dry summers but that needn’t be a problem. With a few easy recipes to turn to, a delicious picnic can be rustled up very quickly, so you can take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself.

Sandwiches have long been a mainstay of the Great British picnic. Easy to make, easy to pack and easy to eat, they’re ideal for an outdoor lunch, and the choice of fillings is virtually endless. Happily for British Muslims, there are now halal-certified alternatives to almost all the great favourites. The BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) is a prime example. Instead of bacon, discerning picnickers can now choose HMC-certified Halal Macon Rashers, which are made with halal chicken but given a tasty smoked flavour that goes wonderfully well with crisp lettuce and sweet tomato.

For those who like something a little spicier in sandwiches and wraps, we offer a wide selection of ready-cooked halal sliced meats – pastrami, spicy chicken loaf, lamb tikka loaf, doner slices and many more besides. They’re ready cooked so they can be used straight from the fridge. When the weather turns sunny and you want to get outdoors in a hurry, there are few quicker or more convenient choices.
